This booklet has been developed to assist you and your families to go through this process as painlessly as possible. It has been prepared by HQ BFG staff and several other experienced organisations to help you understand what to expect and how to prepare yourselves.
Please read the detail and undertake the preparations it recommends – this will avoid last minute challenges over administrative details such as closing bank accounts and de/re-registering your car. If you have not already done so, I would strongly encourage you to follow the BFGnet Facebook page as there will be regular updates and prompts which support the information in this guide. Additionally, the BFGnet website is a valuable source of information which can assist you with your departure arrangements.
The HIVE also have a wealth of information that can support you both in your departure from Germany and arrival in the UK. It is important to highlight that unlike previous moves there will be no BFG elements remaining in Germany who can support you with outstanding issues remotely. Therefore, it is extremely important that you are proactive in planning and managing your move to ensure your return goes smoothly.
Please also remember that you are not alone and your unit and numerous organisations will assist you with advice and practical support. In the first instance please use your chain of command and Unit Welfare Officer, who will be able to tell you the answers to your questions; if not, they will know who will.
