Fraud Alert

Fake Jobs Advertised for UK Armed Forces

The Ministry of Defence has been receiving reports of a fraud in which fake jobs with the UK Armed Forces are being advertised. Applicants are asked to apply to email addresses which end:

@britisharmy.co.uk
@royalnavy.co.uk
@royalairforce.net
@gmail.com
@hotmail.co.uk

Members of the public applying for these fake advertised positions are then asked;

  • To pay a purported administration, visa or health insurance fee.
  • To hand over sensitive information such as passport details.

Protection/Preventionn Advice

The Ministry of Defence has arranged for the removal of most of these fake websites but want to bring it to the attention of the public in case new ones emerge. In the meantime the public should know:

  • We advertise our jobs on www.civilservicejobs.service.gov.uk through which applications can safely be made, or through Armed Forces Careers Offices.

  • The Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Air Force and Ministry of Defence only use email addresses which end .mod.uk or .gov.uk and we only use UK based landlines beginning +44 and not a mobile phone number.

  • We will never ask you to send us money or collect sensitive personal information.
