Albemarle Barracks

Albemarle Barracks is situated in the heart of Hadrian’s Wall country, approximately 15 miles west of Newcastle and 12 miles east of Hexham. Although it is in a rural location Albemarle Barracks is located just off the A69 so local amenities are accessible by car.

Bicester is situated just north of the City of Oxford off the M40. It is surrounded mainly by small villages. Bicester town centre holds a weekly market along with a monthly farmers’ market and occasional French and continental markets. Bicester Village shopping complex is the UK’s leading Outlet Shopping attraction. Another out of town shopping experience is Bicester Avenue which offers both home and garden shopping opportunities. A wider range of shopping and entertainment facilities can be easily accessed in Oxford, Banbury, Aylesbury and Milton Keynes. London is also within an hours travelling either by car, train or coach.

Bulford Camp

Bulford Camp has a range of facilities which are within walking distance comprising of a Spar shop, gymnasium, various pre-schools/nurseries, SureStart Children’s Centre, a primary school, the Beeches Community Centre (Beeches community café, HIVE, hall hire, youth clubs, mums and tots groups, scouting groups and sporting activities within).

Catterick Garrison

Catterick Garrison is situated on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales and close to the North Yorkshire Moors. The sea is only an hour’s drive away, as is the Lake District. Also within an hour you can reach the city of Newcastle, the Metro Centre at Gateshead and the historic cities of York and Leeds. Closer to Catterick are the market towns of Darlington, Richmond and Northallerton.

Kendrew Barracks


Kendrew Barracks is located in Rutland situated between Leicester and Peterborough. Stamford is approximately 12 miles away and has a wide selection of high street stores, restaurants and supermarkets. Stamford market is held every Friday and a number of stall holders are also present on Saturdays in the high street. Oakham is Rutland’s County town and is approximately six miles away and offers a number of small shops, restaurants, takeaways and a small Tesco. A market is held every Wednesday in the high street. Peterborough, Leicester and Corby are within 30 miles of Cottesmore. Nearest train stations are Oakham and Stamford, with Oakham also having a taxi service.

Dishforth Airfield


Dishforth is located off the A1 between the North Yorkshire Moors and Yorkshire Dales and close to the cities of York, Leeds, Ripon and Spa town of Harrogate. The small town of Boroughbridge is approximately three miles away and is the closest town to Dishforth with small independent retail outlets and services, doctor’s surgery and a Morrison’s supermarket. Within one hours drive you can reach the Lake District, the seaside, the Metro Centre in Gateshead and Meadowhall in Sheffield.

Prince William of Gloucester Barracks is situated on the A52 to the east of Grantham and is accessible from any one of three junctions on the A1, which is 10 minutes away. Grantham town centre is approximately three miles away and provides all major retail outlets and supermarkets. Market day is Saturday and regular farmers' markets with local producers selling organic and fresh goods take place on the second Saturday of each month. The local bus station and railway station are within two and a half miles of the Barracks. Grantham is about 26 miles south of the city and county town of Lincoln, and about 24 miles east of the city of Nottingham.

Larkhill is located near to Durrington and Amesbury. The small town of Amesbury is situated just three miles away and has a number of retail outlets and supermarkets including a Cooperative on the high street and a Tesco on the outskirts of town. Salisbury is the nearest large town, with Basingstoke and Southampton approx 1 hour away.

Leuchars is a small town near the north-east coast of Fife in Scotland. In the area surrounding Leuchars you will find the village of Guardbridge which is two miles away to the south and lies on the north bank of River Eden. St Andrews is six miles away to the south-east and the city of Dundee is seven miles to the north, across the rail and road bridges that span the Firth of Tay.

St George’s Barracks is situated in a rural location between the villages of Edith Weston and North Luffenham close to the south shore of Rutland Water. Stamford, which is approximately nine miles away, has high street stores, restaurants and supermarkets. The village of South Cerney, four miles south-east of Cirencester, lies within The Cotswold Water Park, an area made up of over 140 lakes. South Cerney has a range of local amenities including a Post Office and newsagents, Londis general store, hairdressers, Indian restaurant/takeaway, fish and chip shop, a pharmacy, a dental surgery, three public houses and a golf course. The village sits close to many major connections. South Cerney has a growing business community with many companies occupying the industrial and business estates that have built up on the outskirts of South Cerney.

MoD Stafford is situated in the West Midlands to the north of Stafford in the heart of surrounding countryside. Stafford town is a five minute drive away (or about 20 minutes on foot). It has a variety of High Street stores, an indoor market, leisure centre, cinema, theatre, library, various pubs and places to eat and many more amenities for both adults and children

Swanton Morley

Swanton Morley is a large village and parish situated in the quiet rural area of Norfolk. The River Wensum flows nearby and Robertson Barracks is situated on one of the highest points in Norfolk. Swanton Morley has a village general store, a sub post office, a butcher and two country pubs. The Market town of East Dereham is approximately four miles away. Swanton Morley camp is approximately 18 miles fromthe centre of Norwich City.
